Since the release of their CLOUT premiered 2020 debut ‘The Dogs’, US alt-pop trio Forts have continued to develop and expand upon their unique sound, exploring different sonic textures and proving themselves to be one of the most intriguing outfits bubbling beneath the surface as of late.

On their latest release ‘The Chemist’, the outfit continue to push the boundaries of their sound. The intention of the track is to capture the feeling of what it’s like to live in a reality distorted by premenstrual dysphoric disorder and its effects. The result is a track that is wrapped in a sense of anxiety and tension throughout, with distorted, reversed vocals, swirling carnival-like synths, and a gritty, powerful beats creating an unrivaled atmosphere that feels as haunting as it is engaging.

“The Chemist is basically my way of personifying the nightmare that is PMDD, as a grotesque monster that my little chemist of a brain/body manages to conjure up…” Mars says. “Knowing how alone I’ve felt through it makes me feel like it’s kind of my duty to talk about it since it’s so often mistaken for regular depression. 1 in 20 women are affected by this, yet hardly anyone talks about it.”
