Brooklyn based experimental pop artist That Brunette releases two-track EP ‘Millennium Fig’

Madeline Mondrala aka Brooklyn based songwriter That Brunette unleashes a two-track EP entitled ‘Millennium Fig’.

Madeline is taking the next step into owning her artistry, and embarks on the new adventure ‘That Brunette’.

On ‘Millennium Blues’, Madeleine stated, “Millennium Blues is about reaching a dead end, turning around, and starting from scratch. I was running in the wrong direction. I hit a wall, and I had to come to terms with that.

As difficult as It was to admit to myself that I’d made a mistake, trusted the wrong people, ignored my gut instincts, It felt freeing to start all over again with the knowledge I’d gained from that experience. It’s about killing your ego, processing your past, and confronting your karma.

‘Millennium Blues’ situates within a fierce electro-pop soundscape, and captures the uncertainty of beginning again. ‘Fig Tree’ feels completely different, as it highlights finding beauty even in the darkest of places.

To summarise ‘Fig Tree’, Madeline also added, “Fig Tree is inspired by a Sylvia Plath quote from The Bell Jar. She talks about seeing the possibilities of her life as figs on a fig tree. As she contemplates each one, they ripen, die, and fall from the tree.

I wanted to put that feeling into the context of our modern world, where options are truly limitless to the point that we feel paralyzed by choice. Fig Tree is about finding gratitude for our own personal, beautiful, metaphorical fig.”

Describing the overall two-track EP as “the collective growing pains of humanity”, the EP highlights themes of starting again, gaining perspective and realising your self-worth.

‘Millennium Fig’ is out worldwide now.
