On their debut single ‘I Don’t Believe It’s True’, Brooklyn alternative outfit Superswell have done what many American bands before them have tried and failed to; to evoke the feeling of being in the UK in the 90s and early 2000s, crafting a sound that feels like dingy pubs and floppy hair with a real sense of deftness and guile.

The track is stacked full of indie rock appeal, from the intensity and heart that is poured into the vocals, to its garage rock edge and sense of rawness, ‘I Don’t Believe It’s True’ is a break up track that has a real sense of authenticity and realness. It’s not hard to imagine hearing this track in an intimate venue thanks to its live tracked recording and swaggering brashness, and we can bet that the band sound even better in such an environment. This is just the beginning for Superswell, but we can’t wait to hear what else the band have to offer going forward.
