Walt Disco‘s stomping new single ‘Hey Boy (You’re One Of Us)’ sees the Glaswegians at their impactful best. The track is taken from debut EP Young Hard and Handsome.

Restrained organs open the track before gloriously stomping drums and gurning riffs shoot it forward with an urgent injection of energy. Wailing synths conjure thoughts of Dead or Alive and HMLTD with their unrestrained flailing, capturing the sincere essence of the best of 80s glam New Romanticism.

Star of the show however, is undoubtedly vocalist James Power, a singularly forceful and commanding presence befitting of his name, his full-throttle vocal makes the band’s latest outing impossible to ignore.

“We wrote this song around a hypothetical situation about teaching a man to come to terms with his feminine side and that it wouldn’t devalue the parts of him that are male,” explains frontman Power. “But would make him feel more free and help his relationships with others. We obviously had a lot of fun writing it and sometimes the lyrics get a bit kinky, but such is life.”

‘Hey Boy (You’re One Of Us)’ is available now via Blood Records. Walt Disco’s debut EP Young Hard and Handsome is to be released 30th September.
