The track sees the Brighton-based artist at her most stirring and poignant.
Armed with a piano and her affecting, powerful vocals, Lydia Evangeline looks to have crafted one of the most emotional and painfully real tracks of 2021 so far.
There is a stark sense of realness and (you guessed it) rawness that permeates the track. ‘Raw’ feels like a glimpse into the still beating broken heart of the artist, a cathartic spilling of emotions that never feels insincere or tacked on for a second. Lydia masterfully sweeps you up into this narrative and has you sit beside her as she opens up to you and shares her experience in the most soul-baring and vulnerable way, and as a result, the track packs a punch that is hard to top. Stirring, emotional, and sobering stuff.
“Raw is very…um…raw. It was written very soon after a big and painful break up, and I think I needed to put into words the fact that I was actually lost for words, which I guess is a bit of an oxymoron.” Lydia says of the track.
“The whole song centres around “I might be ready talk, soon or maybe not so soon who knows… But right now, it’s still too raw, too painful, I’m still reeling, grieving, processing, gathering my thoughts and my emotions, reimagining my future, going over and over questions and confusion.””
