Telling us about the release, Bellatrix shares, “Golden is the first song in a body of work about waking up to and eventually getting out of an abusive dynamic with my ex. I wrote it at a point when I wasn’t quite ready to be honest with myself about the situation, but was subconsciously so desperate to bring myself to safety.
Writing Golden was a commitment that I would set out on that journey even though it terrified me. The lyric “You’re Golden To Me” is a promise of protection from a grounded and seeing part of myself that knew how to guide the jumbled rest of me through. “
