Following in the footsteps of successful political infused number ‘Better Job’, ‘Used To Be’ is a Britpop meets post-punk offering that sounds like Siouxsie and the Banshees had a pint with Lily Allen.
Recorded, mixed and mastered at Woodbine Recording Studios, the youthful number feels carefree and relatable.
Speaking about the track, YNES shares, “Used to Be’ is the result of ten drunken minutes in lockdown – after realising I was suddenly unable to indulge in self-destructive behaviour, whilst also being hyper-aware that I was shedding the skin of my early twenties at home alone. I feel a sense of melancholy, of “what if these are the best days of my life?”, that I’ve never been able to shake.”
Slightly more serious than other releases, this thought-provoking feels vulnerable in places but that’s not a bad thing.
Delicately able to share her thoughts and be personal with her fans, this inspiring artist is a role model for people trying to find their identity.
