Minneapolis alternative rock outfit Hyooman mark their debut with indie infused single ‘Half Brain’
Born from the COVID-19 pandemic, Hyooman are an outfit with layers of likeability.
“Half Brain” is the debut single from the Minneapolis based outfit, and it features a fierce indie rock meets bedroom pop arrangement.
Easy-listening yet strong-minded, this is a passionate introduction to the band and entails that their future looks vibrant.
Recorded, engineered and mixed by drummer McCoy Seitz at Casino Time Recording Studio in Minneapolis, MN, the track was further mastered by Timothy Stollenwerk at Stereophonic Mastering in Portland, OR.
Telling us more about the debut single, Hyooman share, “The song is ultimately about not taking yourself too seriously and not letting things get to you. In the first section of the song we encounter a person with toxic behavior.
In the second section we encounter a situation in an art gallery where you might feel stupid because you don’t understand the nuance of the art pieces.
The song is about being indifferent to all of that. The refrain, “It’s okay I wouldn’t understand it anyway” – it’s this attitude of “I can’t be bothered by any of that.” There’s a power and freedom to that.”
A mesmerising indie number that could easily find the band support lo-fi artist Alex G in no time, ‘Half Brain’ is intelligent and mature.
