Indie-pop artist Andrew Smith explores how overwhelming our twenties really are in vivid new single
NYC-based indie-pop artist Andrew Smith narrates feeling unaccompanied and worthless in poignant new release ‘Twenties‘
A relatable number that will certainly help you get over obstacles at any age, the melancholic single is honest and in places, humourous.
Aiming to understand complex feelings about life and purpose, the nostalgic single is best described as a stunning anthem that comes across as intimate at the same time.
Sharing his thoughts on the new release, Andrew Smith states, “Twenties is a song I wrote while feeling overwhelmed by my own path. I spent many years of my twenties putting my personal life on the back burner. Am I falling behind!?
When I’m being critical of myself, my demons say that I’m late to the party. I’m “falling behind.” One of my best friends getting married, a friend buying a house, the appearance of “peace” in other people’s lives.
The song is really about resting in the idea that our timeline is our own, and we can all catch up to each other. It’s okay. This has been a huge lesson as I navigate self-acceptance and self-love.
Time and showing myself compassion is a theme through many of my songs lately.”
