The track is the second single from the artist’s upcoming debut album Midnight Masquerade.
On their second single ‘Stardust’, Kit Citrine continues to establish their lush sound and the unique lens with which they want to convey the world. The track is a love song about a love that transcends things like space, time and gender, a lasting, impenetrable love that knows no boundaries or barriers.
The non-binary artist’s unique take on the love ballad does a really great job of giving a familiar trope a new, revitalising feel, and the authentic and heartwarmingly earnest nature of the writing has you hanging on every one of the artist’s words. ‘Stardust’ has a really sweet serenity to the sound, from the softness of the arrangement, to the artist’s empowering vocals, to the alluring atmosphere created throughout, the track showcases a gorgeous, soft side to the artist’s sound following the dynamism of the debut single ‘Midnight Masquerade’.
“I chose a certain sweetness and simplicity of arrangement to mirror the profound calm and unconditional love I feel in those moments of closeness, watching the stars,” Citrine said. “The lyrics are nerdy and science-based because that’s our relationship style. It’s also purposely written without gender roles, gendered terms, and specific third-person pronouns.”
