Since we had a chat with Desperate Electric earlier in the year (you can read that here), the duo have continued to innovate and build upon their distinctive brand of alternative pop as they build towards the release of their debut album What Do You Want.
The final release from the album is its title track, a cathartic anthem about life of a fledgling artist and the toll it can take on you. The theme of “screaming to the void” is perpetuated on the track, exploring this feeling of putting your art and your creative expression out into the world and not really knowing if anything or anyone is really listening or paying attention. Fortunately, for those of us that are, their emphatically soulful sound is packed full of passion and life, and fizzes and bounces with an incessant sense of energy and drive. From its cathartic emotional releases, to the intricacies of the sound, to the heart and soul that is clearly poured into it, ‘What Do You Want’ emphatically sets the stage of the artist’s latest chapter, and it is hopefully one that will help the duo find what they’re looking for and feel seen.
