Hotel Lux have provided something of a more sombre addition to the format in the form of their excellent new single ‘National Team’. The track is about that sad realisation that many of us go through when you realise you’re actually a little bit (a lot) older than you think about yourself in your head, with this revelation coming in the form of realising that you’re the same age of some players in the national football team. The track is a gorgeous ode to the game, and puts a really distinctive and melancholy twist on the form, making for a sound that feels both idiosyncratically funny while a little bit existential crisis-y and terrifying.
