The track is the fourth release from Aisling McCarthy’s new project.
Sistir is the project of Dublin artist Aisling McCarthy, someone who has long established herself as an accomplished musician and singer. This new venture for the artist sees her tapping into her more celestial tendencies, calling upon chilling 80’s synths and lush harmonies to create soundscapes that feels as haunting as they do ethereal and grand.
The latest release from the artist is the new single ‘bridge’, a track about the importance of meeting people halfway and the importance of give and take and not giving too much of yourself away to somebody who isn’t doing the same. This narrative pairs really nicely with the lushness of the artist’s sound, making for a real sense of gravity and poignancy. From the melodic rhythms, to the emotional resonance, to the sheer sense of atmosphere created here, ‘bridge’ is a real showcase of an emerging artist with a huge world of potential.
“The bones of ‘bridge’ were written when I was living in Dublin.” Aisling says of the track. “I was in a relationship that I was finding very difficult to be in, but the potential I saw in it, kept me trying. I sing about meeting my love under palm trees which was very much a dreamy vision of mine. I envisioned myself moving away to a tropical place and living more harmoniously with my partner. It’s been almost 4 years since I wrote ‘bridge’ and now I’ve found myself living under palm trees, focusing on music composition…with a loving partner. This somehow makes the timing of the release feel perfect.”
