The track is from the band’s well-received latest LP Pacific Standard Time.
Boasting an energy-packed, explosive sound and a flair for the vibrant and nostalgic, LA indie rock outfit Velvet Starlings have been carving out a name for themselves as one of emerging music’s more exciting and memorable prospects.
The latest single from the band is ‘Turning Point’, an infectiously bouncy dose of rock n’ roll that takes inspiration from bands like The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys for its personality-filled, charismatic charm and chaotic, melodic nature. The more garage-y aspects to the sound, namely the riotous guitars and frenzied vocals make for an endlessly fun and exciting listening experience, with its psychedelic and more experimental edge just adding to the fun. Add in thoughtful, multi-faceted lyrics and the brash charm of the outfit, and ‘Turning Point’ morphs into another instant classic for the young band.
Gisborne notes, “At the time I wrote it, I was thinking about climate change – we’re at a point where we could either start trying to fix it now and if we don’t, it could be too late. Or you could look at it like you’re in a relationship that’s on the rocks.”
