Who TF is Maddison Goode?
Maddison Goode is a 20-yea- old singer/songwriter and saxophonist based in London. She grew up in a small village in Lancashire and moved down south to study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2021 to develop her musical career.
How long have you been making music?
I started doing guitar and saxophone lessons at a young age, around 5. This kickstarted my exploration and love for music. At the age of 14, I started writing my own songs with the skills I had learnt on guitar. I realised that I wanted to write and perform all the time so a few years ago I started taking it much more seriously.
Why do you make music?
I make music to feel powerful. Writing and performing gives me a feeling like nothing else and I want to share that with others, which is why I’m so happy to have music out there now.
What are your biggest influences?
I take influence from a lot of artists and genres. I have always loved 70s rock music such as The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and The Waterboys. I also love a lot of modern folk such as Phoebe Bridgers and Adrienne Lenker and lots of RnB too, SZA and Frank Ocean etc.
What would you say has been your best moment so far?
My best moment was my EP launch a few weeks ago. It was so much fun to play the songs to everyone and get such a great reaction.
How would you describe your sound to somebody unfamiliar with it?
My sound is a mixture of soulful pop, rock and shoegaze vibes.
What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?
My ‘I’ve made it’ moment would be playing at the main stage at Glastonbury!
We love your new EP From a Windowsill, what more can you tell us about it?
From A Windowsill is a personal story of growth and musical exploration. It is a journey of uncovering new sounds and influences whilst navigating life and love in London in your twenties.
What else do you have planned for the near future?
I’m actually planning another EP for next summer with a bit of a different vibe sound wise.
And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?
My mum and dad!
