Having grown enamoured with LA singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and vinyl DJ Alicia Beck, better known as Midnight Prisms, when we heard her shimmering and captivating single ‘Spin Me Around’ earlier this year, we were thrilled when we got the chance to hear the artist’s brand new debut EP New Age Disco, a retro-tinged electronic alt-pop release that is packed full of personality and fun moments.

One of these comes in the form of ‘Diving In’, an empowering and dreamy track that surrounds themes of discovery and navigating and coming to terms with your queer identity. The track has exactly the kind of charismatic allure that its subject demands, and is packed full of quirky synths, enthralling vocals, and the kind of spirital, retro-meets-modern aura that Midnight Prisms sounds are so often characterised by. The track is dripping in contemporary appeal and charm while laced with the artist’s trademark nods back to the past, and its thoughtful narrative is sure to resonate with many listeners and make them feel seen and represented in relatable fashion.

“I wrote this song as I was becoming more connected to my sexuality through discovering my queerness,” Alicia says.
