The powerful new track is the expansive Bristol band’s first release of 2024
On their poignant and impactful new single ‘Hollow’, rising Bristol alternative outfit IOTA continue to showcase the dynamism and relentless intensity that has made them such a revered band by those in the know, melding a powerful instrumental with hard-hitting, moving lyrics in a way that feels all-encompassing and fierce throughout.
The new single explores the darkest side of mental health, and the anguish of having to witness somebody completely losing themself and sinking away into their issues, stripping them of any real kind of personality or distinctiveness, a shell of who they previously were. The anthemic and powerful nature of the sound feels like a band taking a stand in the fight against these issues and makes for stirring and expansive listening, with the band channelling everything into fighting back against these issues, this reflected in the punchy and melodic nature of the grungy sound. These issues are always complex and challenging for everybody involved, but the more people that speak up like IOTA have and shine a light on them will help to alleviate some of the stigma and judgement that surrounds it.
