On the fierce and uncompromising ‘New Addiction’, The Haunt continue to establish the brash and dynamic nature of their explosive alternative rock sound, continuing to bound forward in explosive fashion while crafting relatable and resonating narratives for listeners to latch onto.
The new single explores Ana’s tendency to dive headfirst into unfamiliar and sometimes unwise situations with little regard for her own wellbeing or emotions, resulting in hardship and heartbreak, but never serving as any real deterrent from doing exactly the same thing the next time over. The full-throttle, unapologetic nature of the sound mirrors these situations and feelings, and makes for an all-out, alternative rock assault that feels as catchy and melodic as it does crushing.
On “New Addiction”, Ana said “‘New Addiction’ is about this thing I do where I ignore all the bright red flags and proceed with zero caution and when it doesn’t work the first time… try it one more time just in case you didn’t sufficiently fuck up your life enough the first time! It’s about this toxic and obsessive love that is so intense you can’t really tell if what you’re feeling is butterflies or a panic attack.”
