Ushering a new era for Coupdekat, new single ‘cdjs’ is another bold step forward from the artist as well as the first single from her upcoming new EP the world she created / inside of her pocket*.
The artist’s diverse and unapologetically modern sound is used in this case to look back on the past in nostalgic fashion, exploring teenage memories and the way that they can distort and grow blurry and faded over time. This expressive and eclectic sound and the vulnerable and earnest nature of the lyrics makes for a really engrossing duality that showcases a multi-faceted and thoughtful appeal that the artist possesses through her sound, and these more reflective moments look set to be a fixture of the upcoming new collection of tracks.
Coupdekat says of the track, “I wrote this track (and the rest of the EP) with Luca Dixon (Lucagotbbm) who I’d admired for a long time for his introspective lyricism and experimental pop sound. cdjs is the first on a journey of self-reflection and coming of age that is ‘the world she created / inside of her pocket*’”
