Post-hardcore and emo sounds have always left a lot of room for bands to showcase their uniqueness and charm, with bands dicing between adjacent genres, heavier and softer passages, and displaying bouts of emotion and heart that feel rousing and resonating.

Australian outfit jan. are a band that utilise their sound to showcase every facet of their potential, with new single ‘my dear’ feeling as expansive and exciting as anything that you’re likely to hear anytime soon. Melding throat-ripping screams with almost Dallas Green-esque crooning, and mixing in midwest emo guitars and at one point even swaying towards nu metal territory, this is a band who have found a way to bring all of their influences together in a way that makes sense and that feels accessible and raw. Dripping with authenticity and culture while displaying a moving emotional core in the process.
