On her expansive and thoughtful new single ‘The Kill’, highly-rated Queer Chinese American artist Grace Power showcases the haunting and intoxicating charm of her distinctive indie pop sound, cathartically exorcising some of the demons of her past in a way that feels invigorating throughout.

The lushness of the soundscape and cinematic, atmospheric way that the sound comes together makes for the kind of grand occasion that befits such a vulnerable and high-stakes narrative, as Grace digs out some of the feelings and things that she has held deep within herself and lays it all out is resonating fashion. Everything here from the narrative, to the forward-thinking sound, to Grace’s engrossing and moving vocal performance feels packed full of life and vigour, and continues to single her out as an exciting force in modern music.

“I wrote this song once I had begun to unbury all that I had been suppressing,” Grace shares. “It represents the moments before true healing can begin—when you wonder if you’d survive unpacking everything. The chorus feels like a sudden dance you can’t control, mirroring how my year felt. At the end of each chorus, I ask: ‘Is it too late to fall?’ I’m happy to say the answer is no, never.”
