The poignant and moving track closes out the band’s excellent new EP Dusk
Establishing themselves as an exciting addition to the UK music scene with their initial releases, rising band Annie and the Jays have now released the most realised and complete showcase of their sound and appeal in the form of their debut EP Dusk, a collection of tracks that highlight the range of the band and the expansive reach of their sound.
Following some fierce and upbeat initial singles, the a track that does a great job of showing off another side of the band’s sound is ‘Drifting Out’, a piano-based ballad that explores the feeling of losing yourself, something that feels as cathartic and relatable as anything you’re likely to hear anytime soon and easy to resonate with as a listener. While filled with poignant and beautiful moments, the track also shines a light the versatility and depth of the band when compared with their other releases, and provides a really memorable and fitting end to what is an excellent debut EP.
