The track follows the release of the artist’s similarly stellar recent single ‘Maybe In Another Life’
Growing increasingly revered and celebrated for the nuanced and thoughtful nature of her writing and sound, engrossing UK singer-songwriter Ella Jinks has continued her stellar run of form with the release of ‘This Fall’, a track co-written with Katie Melua that continues to capture the moving and resonating appeal of Ella’s delicate style.
The track is deeply moving in pretty much every way that you can think of, melding a stripped-back, piano-led instrumental with a poignant narrative that explores the importance of feeling pain and allowing ourselves that kind of emotional release in order to feel human and real, rather than numbing it out and feeling nothing. You have to embrace the dark in order to feel the warmth and joy of the light, and this track perfectly captures that bittersweet realisation and articulates it beautifully.
Speaking about the new offering, she said, “I wrote ‘This Fall’ back in 2022 with Katie. It’s a song about understanding the importance of embracing pain in difficult situations rather than numbing ourselves entirely. Through the writing process, I realised that when we suppress sadness, we also suppress our capacity for joy and so it’s actually better to fully experience our emotions as they come, rather than burying them only for them to resurface later.”
