The track is from the artist’s acclaimed and expansive new debut album SHAPESHIFTER
Having heralded the release of their debut single ‘Shapeshifter’ back in June, we have since been eagerly awaiting the release of YEARN‘s full length album of the same name, with its release now cementing Lily Minke Tahar’s project as one of our favourite discoveries of the year thanks to her nuanced approach to crafting her sounds and the depth that comes with it.
A track that encapsulates the appeal of the project is the album’s second single ‘Midnite Mine’, a delicate and off-kilter release that is packed full of these unexpected quirks and thoughtful moments, interrupted by moments that feel altogether more disconcerting, almost like something is taking over the track and mutating it over time. With the basis of the album being built around vivid dreams staring an obscure figure that frequented Tahar nightly, this ties in thematically with what is a consistently confounding and awe-inspiring collection of tracks, and all of this comes together to make for an unforgettable listening experience that is packed full of surprises and memorable moments.
