Three decades removed from their tumultuous falling out with a major record label, Giant Killers are now firmly in the driving seat of their career having returned in 2024 with the release of their acclaimed debut album Songs for the Small Places, and their latest single ‘One For Georgie’ is the latest single from that collection of tracks.

The track deals with themes like greatness and the qualities needing to reach such peripheral status, with Manchester United and Northern Ireland icon George Best utilised as a central figure in the narrative. The band’s sound has a really engrossing 90s British flair to it, which makes sense considering when the songs were written, but in a modern context it gives it a really nostalgic and engrossing feel that has this timeless authenticity and charm to it. Punchy, melodic and packed full of personality and charm, ‘One For Georgie’ echoes a lot of the likeable, charismatic qualities of its subject matter.
