Armed with a forward-thinking electronic sound that is packed full of distinctive moments and thoughtful, politically-charged messaging, latest Energy Whores single ‘Pretty Sparkly Things’ is a synthy exploration of the distraction tactics that are utilised in a variety of ways to shield us from the bigger picture and the important things that are exploiting and taking advantage of people in life.

The powerful messaging is paired expertly with a fierce and hypnotic sound that is packed full of modern appeal and creative ideas. The ideal of luxury and status that is promised to so many of us if we work hard and keep pushing forward is something that often turns out to be less than true, and the track does a great job of highlighting how influencer culture and all of these aspirational social media posts are just advertising something unattainable, making for a sound that feels as hard-hitting lyrically as it does stylistically.

“This song is about how society dangles unattainable dreams in front of us while so many people are struggling just to survive,” says Carrie Schoenfeld. “It’s satire, but it’s also deadly serious because this obsession with luxury and status is what keeps the machine grinding us down.”
