The thoughtful new track is from their excellent new LP The Lash
As a band who have cemented their status as one of the most riotously fun and loud alternative rock outfit’s of recent times, you could forgiven The Dirty Nil for thinking that taking a step into more cinematic and romantic territory may be a bridge that they’re best off avoiding, but on their new single ‘This Is Me Warning Ya’, the band dive headfirst into a more subtle and nuanced sound and have reaped the benefits as a result.
The track, part of their colossal new LP The Lash, provides the album with its most tender and intimate moment, taking on a more orchestral approach that underscores the ambitious scope and creativity of the band. The Dirty Nil may feel most at home when trying to get you on your feet crafting high-octane anthems, but this provides a great showcase of just how versatile and talented they are.
“I was definitely on a Frank Sinatra listening kick.” The Dirty Nil’s Luke Bentham says. “I wrote it really quickly and was happy with it. There were no revisions or alterations from the first draft. When we recorded it, our friend Sara Danae came in to play violin on what I had laid down, it really made it sound lush. We asked if she could also play some cello as well. Despite never playing one before, she bowed out a simple but beautiful passage and I was over the moon with the final result.”
