The track follows the artist’s acclaimed recent single ‘Wifey Material’
A fierce and empowering new alternative pop single that pushes back on the quiet and soft ways that young girls are often expected to behave and present themselves, BERENICE‘s latest single ‘Everybody Loves Italian Girls’ is a vibrant and expressive ode to being who you want to be and not apologising for it, making for an affirming and fun listen throughout.
The vibrant nature of the soundscape and magnetic vocal performance from the artist do a great job of reinforcing the track’s themes and ideals, being loud and dancey and fun in an unfiltered and captivating way throughout. BENERINCE says that her and her friends frequently got hit on in the UK with the line “I love Italian girls”, and this track sees her looking to reclaim the term from being a source of objectification and instead revel in what makes her chaotic, unique, and unforgettable.
“The bridge is exactly the advice I would give to my 15-year-old self.” BERENICE says. “Me and my friends were loud, expressive, emotional — and growing up in Northern Italy, there was always this expectation to be subtle, feminine, chic, and composed. We always felt too big, too bold, too much. For a long time, it felt like we were being squeezed into a box that was never really made for us. I wish I could go back and tell my younger self not to shrink just to fit someone else’s idea of what a girl should be.”
