A track with an alluring nostalgic feel stylistically but a much darker and more intense feel to it thematically, latest Flora Summers single ‘Pretty Girls’ is a new release that explores way that young girls are often made to feel less than, like nothing that they ever do will make good enough, causing them to hate themselves and try to change and find themselves in unhealthy cycles as a result.

There is a really moving and captivating feel to the track, offering a listening experience that feels bound to resonate with countless people who have been through similar situations, articulating it in a way that feels powerful and real throughout. This contrast of a fun and catchy sound and the murkier undercurrent of its messaging does a great job of mirroring the realities of the impossible standards that so many are meant to meet, with the reality often paling to the superficial dreams that we are sold by society at large.

“‘Pretty Girls’ isn’t about appearance – it’s about the feeling of never quite being enough.” Flora Summers says of the new release. “I wrote it for my younger self and for anyone who’s ever felt like they had to change who they are to be worthy of love, acceptance, or belonging. I wanted to put words to the emotions I struggled with growing up, and unfortunately, I think it’s something a lot of young girls can relate to.”
