Following on from their excellent, CLOUT-lauded recent single ‘Weekend’, Sweden’s COLLEAGUES have kept up the pace in excellent fashion with the release of the atmospheric and fun ‘Song 20 (The inevitable outcome of the avoidable)’, a track that sees them mulling over the state of the world and the uncertainty of what is coming next. The track does a great job of building on a sound which they call “memory pop”, and is full of fun and creative ideas.

This meld of such existential and heavy themes with a lush, synth-heavy sound that feels both inventive and warm makes for a really interesting contrast, with the track’s flowing feel and immersive aura making for a listen that feels escapist and hypnotic while masking some of the more harrowing, uncertain themes that lie beneath. This makes for a listening experience that has a real sense of duality to it, tackling the unknown with the kind of upbeat energy that feels infectious.
