Who TF is pisceze?

We had a chat with effortlessly cool, cutting edge R&B artist pisceze following the release of the excellent ‘Red Handed’

An incredible amount of creative potency, her unique Korean-Japanese ancestry and Canadian upbringing have provided pisceze with a charisma and style that feels distinctly her own and entirely authentic. While establishing an accessible, and effortlessly cool R&B sound, the artist has always put her own spin on her sound that leaves it with this intrinsic pisceze DNA that could only be her own.

The artist has been on something of a tear as of late, with each and every of her releases seeming to feel as sultry and cutting edge as the last, melding lush, rich soundscapes with the artist’s captivating vocal style. The artist is looking to carve out a name for herself her own way, with an instantly recognisable sound that is characerised perfectly by the ice cold, razor sharp nature of recent releases ‘Dodging Bullets’ and the the brand new ‘Red Handed’. We had a chat with pisceze to find out some more about her irresistible sound and the inspirations and goals that she has.

Who TF is pisceze?

Singer, songwriter, and gamer!

pisceze derives from my astrology sign. I’m a true pisces, we’re known to be in tune with our emotions. We are very intuitive and empathetic. We are natural healers… when I started making music I saw how it helped others and that’s why I decided to name myself pisceze. I feel the most aligned and true when I’m making music.

How long have you been making music?

Going into my third year

Why do you make music?

My number one inspiration comes from love, it’s super universal at the end of the day and there are many ways to show love and interpretations of what love is. Whether it’s a friend, platonic, relationship, or family. My creative process consists of taking what I go through and applying that to my music. Some days where I’ve had a few drinks, vibing out, and making music like I’m a superstar and that brings out the energetic tracks like Superstar. Other times I am in tune within my own emotions or the energies of those close to me and that influences tracks like Heartbreak and other more vulnerable songs. I use a lot of layers and build out my songs to be full. Full of energy, full of love, full of vibes.

What are your biggest influences?

Family and my team. I wouldn’t be here without them… To see my team work as hard as me just motivates me to become a better version of myself everyday. I always refer to ‘pisceze’ in a third person perspective haha. I’m always like “pisceze is our baby, watch her grow”, it’s almost like we’re in elementary school working on a school project to present to the class (world), we all have the same goals and same believes when it comes to the growth of pisceze.

What would you say has been your best moment so far?

Doing what I love most with the people I love.

How would you describe your sound to somebody unfamiliar with it?

I would describe my sound as sexy and chill R&B. Before finding my own sound, I used to experiment with different genres -like pop. But lately I’ve been finding myself going back to my roots and incorporating punk/rock music to my sound today and I think that’s pretty damn cool.

What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?

To do a sold out world tour and to get in the studio with Bruno Mars.

We love your new single ‘Red Handed’, what more can you tell us about it?

Red Handed is based on my life story. If it wasn’t for my close friends I wouldn’t have thought to write this because it was too personal to me. Long story short, what happened to me felt like a movie – I was in a relationship while he was secretly intimate with somebody else.

What else do you have planned for the near future?

I’m working on really honing in on my sound and delivering a project that will really cement my artistry. Finding my balance between the R&B/Pop worlds, with what we have in the works I believe my audience will really be able to attach themselves and see who I really am and what my music can really do for them. It’s and I’m excited to share it with ya’ll in the coming year.

And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?

My team.
