Here is everything that you need to know about Sasha Joy, ranging from her influences, to her plans for the future, and the things that have led her onto the path that she is on today.

Who TF is Sasha Joy?

A singer, songwriter, and groove-maker who’s here to remind people what it’s like to feel again. That’s the shortest way I can put it.

How long have you been making music?

I’ve been singing since childhood, but it wasn’t until I learned the art of listening, and met those who heard something unique in me, that I stepped out as a singer and songwriter.

Why do you make music?

Because nothing else breaks barriers like music. It’s the place where we can meet without masks, where melody says what we can’t always say out loud. It’s where honesty feels safe, and where we can see each other and ourselves more clearly.

What are your biggest influences?

Soul, RnB, pop, a bit of jazz, a bit of blues, and quite a bit of life lived between countries and train stations. Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse, and Norah Jones have been among the artists I’ve carried with me since I was young.

What would you say has been your best moment so far?

The messages from strangers saying a song helped them through a tough time. That quiet knowing that something I created met them in a moment that mattered, that’s the kind of moment I don’t forget.

How would you describe your sound to somebody unfamiliar with it?

Groovy soul with storytelling you can actually feel.

What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?

Seeing another artist cover my song.

We love your new single ‘New Land’, what more can you tell us about it?

Thank you. ‘New Land’ is about claiming a new chapter for yourself, with all the excitement and freedom that comes with that. It’s groove-led and uplifting, but it’s also a quiet promise to yourself.

What else do you have planned for the near future?

More music. A live show that feels like your favourite song in a room full of strangers. And some collaborations that bring out parts of my sound I haven’t shared yet.

And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?

My gut says it’s probably someone I’ve never met, listening in the car on the way home, deciding to play the song again. Oh, and my friend Cris who always cheers me on and just “gets” the emotion behind my voice!
