The deepest depths of lockdown may be behind us, the the impressions and lessons that it has left us with still remain, as evidenced by ‘Lonely’, the latest release from Leeds upstart Agi.

The track, littered with rousing and uplifting little sonic moments and feel-good melodies, documents Agi’s adaptation to life at stuck home and how it made her come to terms with this jarring change of circumstance. There is an intrinsic sense of optimism that swathes around the track. In the UK and around the world, At long last, there seem to be a light at the end of the long and often lonely tunnel that we’ve been through, and ‘Lonely’, the track, is a welcome small and affable reminder that things aren’t always so bad.

“I wrote this song during the first lockdown when I was living alone. The thought of being alone for more than 2 or 3 days used to scare me and made me really uncomfortable.” – Agi explains.

“The bizarre experience of being stuck inside taught me to be okay with being by myself. It made me realise even when I’m feeling lonely, I’m never truly alone. Especially in lockdown, in a weird way, I felt more connected to people by the fact we all felt lonely.”
