The isolation-inspired single sees Aimee Vant paint a poignant and heartfelt story.
Sometimes a track will pique your interest with its smoke and mirrors, packed full of a barrage of sounds and bells and whistles to furiously grasp at your attention. On other occasions a track will be more subtle, and things like an endearing voice or poignant, nuanced imagery will captivate your senses in a more natural and organic way, ‘An Astronaut Who Misses Home’ is very much a track that fits into the latter category.
The first thing that you notice about the track is how spacious and carefree it feels, ‘An Astronaut Who Misses Home’ isn’t a earthquake of sights and sounds that forces you to acknowledge it, it is a gentle breeze that invites you to get lost in it. Aimee Vant does a great job of crafting a fully formed story around her words and a guitar, the state of the world as of late has had some of us feeling like we are a little lost or alone or “on the moon” as of late, and this track articulates that as well as anything else I’ve heard lately.
