AKA George debuts a change of sound in new single ‘I Want You’. The new track follows the release of his Bad For You EP earlier in the year.
Taking a swift side-step from his more established rock influenced sound, ‘I Want You’ shows a wholly different side to the artist. A moody and powerful piece of pop, the track is nudged forwards by a compulsive bassline and intense synths that swell and abate with the barely veiled lustful atmosphere. Offset with hushed vocals that briefly give way to unbridled wails, the track is a masterful execution of pop done right.
“Sometimes I get in a dark mood where I feel deeply unsatisfied,” shares George of the new single. “‘I Want You’ is about a deep hunger. It’s about being hidden away and emerging from that isolation with an almost ruthless need, and the freedom to express that need without having to conform to social niceties.”
