The track feels like a journey across a range of vintage pop eras.
With a gorgeously nostalgic feel and a plethora of heart and soul, latest Alexa Givens release ‘Broken Record’ does a remarkably rousing job of establishing the lush sound of the artist on her first solo single.
The track has a really authentic pop sound that feels timeless, borrowing from the sounds of artists from eras of the past but melding them with a more contemporary vision, making for something that feels distinctive yet reassuringly familiar. From its heartfelt lyrics about falling head-first in love to the artists intoxicating, soft vocals, ‘Broken Record’ truly feels like a track that would stand out in any era, and sets the artist aside as somebody to keep a look out for.
“Broken Record is the perfect pop romantic daydream about being ridiculously head over heels in love with someone in the most casual, comfortable way. It’s a Saturday morning dancing around in the kitchen with your partner as you cook breakfast and play all of your favorite records”, Alexa said. “I wrote it on a road trip to Philly in the summer, pondering what my ideal romantic relationship would look like. I was inspired by a 70’s soul song I had on my playlist called ‘Would You Rather’ by The Georgettes”.
