The track continues to UK artist’s searing run of form, and solidifies her as one of our favourite emerging artists.
Following on from her gorgeous last single ‘Unknown’, Alice Auer has continued to capture our hearts and attention with the similarly stunning ‘Baby, Cry’, continuing to showcase the poignant nature of her earnest, heartfelt storytelling and charm.
The track has this really serene and sweet quality to it, with Alice’s rare talent shining through both her writing and the quietly powerful nature of her jazz-influenced vocals. Despite its laid-back pace and immersive nature, there is something really catchy and compelling about its swaying nature, especially throughout the track’s instantly memorable chorus. All of this, tied in with the track’s emotional warmth and cathartic edge makes for a release that will stick with you for a multitude of reasons. Alice Auer is one of our most hotly-tipped rising artists in the UK right now, if not our most hotly-tipped, and tracks like this continue to affirm why.
“This was the first song I wrote with my friend, producer and songwriter – James Smith.” Alice says of the track. “We wrote it in one session, and we both instantly fell in love with it. It’s rare when you write a song and know right away that it’s ‘the one’. This song was written for my dad who grew up in between care before being adopted, and because of this difficult childhood, he rarely shows any sad emotions. The song is meant to be an ode to any people who find it hard to let their emotions go. The lyrics ‘If you’d just let go of the tears in your eyes, you might be able to look into mine’ – is a way to let people know it’s okay to show vulnerability and in lots of instances that can make you stronger.”
