The artist takes a real life dating horror story and crafts it into her cathartic latest single.
An inevitable pitfall of modern dating is the perplexing and disheartening feeling of being “ghosted”, the act of when someone you’re talking to online or on text suddenly disappears with no explanation or reason why. This is an especially pertinent subject matter for rising New York based British artist Anna Bea, who has this modern dating horror story.
“I was getting ready to go on holiday with a guy I was dating and was so excited and nervous,” explains Anna, “The day before our Eurostar train was due to leave for Paris, he stopped replying to my messages. I figured he was busy and we could catch up on the train. But the next day, I got to St Pancras station, bags packed, and waited for him, but he never showed up and I never heard from him again.”
This has led to the release of the artist’s latest single ‘Ghosts’, a cathartic and searching new release that looks to unpack some of the emotions and questions that the artist had in the aftermath of the event. The track does approach the subject from an upbeat and empowering place though, with the artist looking to rebuild following the incident in liberating fashion. The track itself also has an effortlessly catchy and charming appeal, continuing to highlight the ever-growing appeal of Anna Bea’s sound and the emotion and personality that she consistently pours into her work.
