The track comes ahead of the release of a new Arkells album set for 2026
On their vibrant and creative new collaboration ‘Money’, Arkells and Portugal. The Man team up to create a gorgeously textured and produced track that has a groove-laden, feel-good appeal that is packed full of charisma and charm throughout.
Narratively, the track explores the complicated relationships that we have with money, and grip that it has over everybody universally, but these fears and questions are packaged within a synth-infused banger that feels like it could distract you from even the most perilous of times. There is a real fun factor here and a unique contrast between the style and its narrative, and it makes for a listening experience that we can’t get enough of here at CLOUT.
“The pull of money is hard to escape. It’s tangled up in vanity, competition, ego, and dreams of the future — but it’s a godless place to live.” says Max Kerman. He continues, “There are so many invisible forces that guide us, and we’re trying to keep money from sitting too high on the list. We felt like the song was almost there, when we realized John from Portugal. The Man––our favourite American with a streak rebellion––was exactly the voice to bring it home.”
