Rising UK juggernaut STRAIGHT GIRL joins them on the fiery new release.

Bringing a modern, gen-z flair to alternative rock, Artio are a band that have been earning a raft of acclaim for their raucous and experimental approach to their dynamic sound, melding their thoughtful and socially conscious lyrics with electronic walls of sound and creativity with reckless abandon.

Latest single ‘Sertaline’ is a track that encapsulates everything that makes their sound feel unmissable, a scathing critique of the UK government and their disinterest in taking mental health and illnesses seriously. The thoughtful track has a similarly powerful soundscape, with its frenetic style seemingly made to have audiences throwing themselves around in solidarity. All of this, and a similarly fiery cameo from queer/non-binary artist STRAIGHT GIRL, make for another rousing success for Artio and their groundbreaking sound.

“’Sertraline’ is a criticism of how little help the government gives young people for their mental health.” Artio say of the track. “There’s no funding, we are put on mind numbing medications, denied access to therapy and palmed of as ‘hormonal’ or ‘overreacting’ whilst Tory MPs line their pockets with the money that could save lives. It’s about the tragic yet communal idea that all your friends are suffering immensley but hey, at least you’re all suffering together. I gave up on the hope of accessing counselling and therapy, went cold turkey off of my meds, lost my fucking mind and then came back again. Because honestly, Sertraline ruined my brain, and I’d rather live in my sad little autistic brain and deal with it day by day with the people I love than live in a brain that feels like a disconnected hellscape.”
