Her creative and self-produced brand of electronic-pop has allowed Austrian-Latvian artist Baiba to establish a bold and exciting sound that feels entirely her own, melding expansive instrumentation and electronics with gripping narratives to create these emphatic and engrossing listening experiences that stick with you as a listener and leave a memorable impression.

The artist’s latest single ‘Stalker’ is the first taste of an upcoming concept album from the artist exploring themes like victimhood and obsession, delving into a narrative written from the perspective of a woman obsessed with someone already in a relationship. While things don’t get as sinister or intense as a lot of similar stories that are crafted in this vein, and the synthy allure of the soundscape keeps things feeling light, there is a really interesting dynamic to the moral grey areas that are broached and the unsettling ways that our darkest impulses can manifest and cause us to fixate on people and things and act out of character. This makes for a really immersive listening experience that is packed full of character and distinctive charm, setting the scene for an exciting collection of tracks to come.

“Most of us like to believe we’re the ‘good ones’,” Baiba explains, “but we
all do questionable things sometimes. We lie, obsess, betray, and in this song, I wanted to explore that twisted part of ourselves with honesty, humour, and a good beat.”
