With the release of her new album I Don’t Do Humidity, Bailey Crone, better known as Bathe Alone, has unpacked her recent divorce and toxic friendships into her work in cathartic and liberating fashion, exorcising some of the demons that she has been left with in the wake and making for an engrossing and raw collection of intimate tracks in the process.
The centerpiece of the album comes in the form of new single ‘Victims’, a swirling, synthy track that is packed full of modern appeal and charm that sees the artist delving into some of the darker aspects of her recent experiences. The personal nature of the sound is amplified further by a compelling vocal performance from an artist who really seems to be finding their voice, brandishing a newfound confidence that allows her to tell her story with a sense of fierceness and unapologetic honesty.
“As things were falling apart, I was seeking support and confiding in my friends. To them, it was comically obvious that what was happening to my husband was manipulation 101. After learning more about the steps of manipulation, I was dumbfounded at how it reflected the whole situation back at me. The lyrics may seem ridiculous, but they’re all things that were actually said to my husband. It’s written entirely from the perspective of the other woman. To me, this song is the centerpiece of the album.”
