The upbeat new track is the third single from their upcoming album How to Build an Ocean: Instructions
While they often have a penchant for the chaotic and raucous, UK indie rock outfit Bears In Trees feel just as engrossing when they showcase their more charming and feel-good side, as evidenced on their stellar brand new single ‘I Wanna Feel Calm’.
The track is a rousing reminder to lean on your support networks and find solace in your friends and loved ones rather than feel obliged to deal with things on your own. There is a euphoria and sunny appeal to the sound throughout, with its affable melodies and the band’s memorable sense of character and personality doing a great job of elevating such a personal and raw narrative. In spite of their animated and often busy sound, authenticity and heart are things that run through the core of Bears In Trees, and this latest release is a glowing showcase of that at its most potent and rewarding.
“I wrote this when I felt burnt out from self-improvement,” they say, “In the process of being ‘better’, I started to only see the parts of me that weren’t ‘good enough’. It became too much, and the guilt made me want to return to an earlier, more chaotic version of myself. As I reconnected with people I let go I started to let myself be. Getting out of my head and being around people I loved brought me out of that headspace.”
