The duo of Stacy Kim and Kaelan Geoffrey, better known as Bestfriend, are at their emotional and melodic best on their brand new release ‘Hannah In The City’. The track, written and produced entirely by the duo, serves as the lead single on upcoming new EP places i’ve lived, is a rousing example of everything that makes the duo so revered and hotly-tipped.

The track is essentially a big “what if?”. Looking back on a relationship that fell apart and all the moments and missed opportunities that came with it. There is a sadness to the nostalgic narrative but also a really engaging, poppy sound that feels super catchy and memorable in its own melancholy way. Their dreamy bedroom pop sound manages to leave a lasting, somber impression while maintaining a sweet melodic edge that is sure to keep you coming back for more.

On the track, Stacy shares: “It’s a happy-sad-angry reminiscing song all about potential / possibilities / the idea that a relationship might not have fallen apart if we’d just done this or that – all while knowing in the back of your head that it was obviously doomed to fail in the first place. The paradox of thinking about all of the “what-if” questions while having the answer right in front of you, clear as day. We’d be fine if you hadn’t moved away. You didn’t want kids. You didn’t want to get married. You don’t get along with my friends. Scapegoating the symptoms instead of acknowledging the truth: it was never gonna work out.”
