It follows 2020’s earlier release ‘Ur the Party’…

Describing her sound as “bitch-pop”, rising talent BETSIE GØLD drops her latest toe-tapping effort ‘Friday the 13th’. The track follows up her recent single ‘Ur the Party’.

Building on her rapidly expanding collection of high-octane pop numbers, the new single is a bright and bubbly take on relentless bad luck. Punchy synth work and playful grooves push the track forwards leaving GØLD to show what she does best.

“I wrote ‘Friday the 13th’ with my songwriting partner and producer, Kaity Rae, on a Friday the 13th,” shares GØLD. “So much went wrong for both of us that day and the last straw was when a cactus fell from a shelf directly onto her face. She screamed ‘f****** Friday the 13th!’ and the hilarity of that situation (the image of her pulling needles from her forehead still sticks with me) meant there was nothing else I could’ve called the song we wrote that day.

“Once all cactus needles had been safely removed, we talked about superstitions and how even when I’m in a great place I always assume something is going to go wrong, instead of just enjoying the moment,” she continues. “The song pretty much wrote itself as it’s a true representation of my mindset and track record…I guess I’m an optimistic pessimist.”

‘Friday the 13th’ is available now.
