The thoughtful single is accompanied by an equally compelling new video
Through his self-produced psych-pop project Blue Karma, wildly talented multi-instrumentalist Jacob Adams has crafted a sound akin to the work of artists like Mac Demarco and Tame Impala, blessed with a dreamy and engrossing appeal while having the kind of character and distinctive charm that sets artists aside as special and exciting.
On the powerful new video for his single ‘Shadows’, the artist showcases everything that makes him feel unique and captivating, all the way from his blissed out instrumental and enchanting sonic quirks to the vulnerable and poignant nature of his lyrics, with themes based around mental health and depression that are sure to strike a chord with listeners. The interesting juxtaposition of his charming, groove-laden sound and its darker lyrical themes makes for a multi-faceted and thoughtful listening experience that further highlights the artist’s nuance and appeal with rousing effect.
“‘Shadows’ is one of my most vulnerable tracks themed on depression,” Adams explains. “It’s one of those tracks that doesn’t necessarily sound sad, but has dark lyrics. It speaks on the confliction of feeling the need to suppress your feelings, hence the lyrics “drowning in the shadows”.
