The track follows the artist’s excellent recent single ‘Worst Person in the World’
The ebbs and flows of relationships and the ways that things can change and shift whether you want them to or not are some of the most anxiety-inducing aspects of them, and Carol Ades‘ latest single ‘Merry Go Round’ is a hard-hitting and resonating release that explores this feeling in powerful fashion.
The artist’s dissatisfaction and frustration is something that comes through the vocal performance in a really raw and resonating way, knowing that things aren’t the same as they were and things aren’t quite right and that you have to act sooner rather than later. There is a really engrossing feel to this track, with softer and harder moments interspersing each other to replicate the jagged dynamics of a situation that is spiralling out of control and growing harder to navigate.
“I wrote this song on a day where I was honestly just so over it all. I think I was starting to realize that if I wanted something to change I had to change it otherwise I’d be spinning in the same place forever,” – Carol Ades
