When it comes to Christy and his new releases, it is more or less guaranteed what you are going to get. Interesting, impassioned and emphatic sounds that pull at your heart-strings and provoke introspection and thought. Whether backed by an array of sounds or a stark guitar or piano, emotion and conviction takes center-stage on Christy’s sound.
‘A Better Place’ falls into the latter camp, an acoustic track that feels both melancholic and rousing in equal measure. The track is further example of the resounding consistency that the artist shows with his releases, and when compounding with the disarming tenderness of his voice, Christy has a willing formula that is going to allow him to effortlessly craft hugely resonating sounds for quite some time.
“‘A Better Place’ is very nostalgic for me. This was the first song I wrote that kicked off my whole musical journey,” Christy remembers. “I wrote it 4 years ago, while I was working in Paris at a time in my life where everything was changing rapidly and going very fast paced. Looking back on that now, I remember it as one of the best times in my life. For this reason ‘A Better Place’ means a hell of a lot to me, so we decided to record it as a live take to capture the most raw, emotive performance.”
