The track is the third taste of their upcoming new album 77 Pt. 2
Ahead of the release of their upcoming new album 77 Pt. 2, acclaimed indie outfit Colony House has blessed us with the release of their impeccable new single ‘Hummingbird’, a track that serves as a symbol of hope, motion, and reflection with a euphoric and engrossing soundscape to match.
The creativity and guile that the band showcase throughout the track shines through every facet, offering a thoughtful, indelibly catchy backdrop that perfectly compliments the themes of resiliency and hope in a way that feels quietly inspiring and rousing throughout. As the track builds and motors on, it grows increasingly resonating, with the struggle and grit of the titular hummingbird echoing what so many of us go through on a day to day basis to keep our heads above water, and this spirit and fight feels like something that really nicely articulates the ethos of Colony House as a whole.
On the heart behind the song, frontman Caleb Chapman shares: “Hummingbird started like most of our songs, slowly strumming the same chords over and over, trying to find the lyrics and melody that could turn an internal idea into something tangible. I was thinking about hummingbirds and how much work they have to do just to stay in one place. At the time, I was sitting out back of my house when I heard a buzzing overhead. I looked up and saw a hummingbird hovering about four feet in front of me. It’s always a struggle to know which songs you’re supposed to chase and finish, and which ones are better left behind. Moments like this, too perfectly timed to feel like coincidence, I take as miraculous reminders that I’m right where I’m meant to be..”
