On his debut release ‘Be Alright’, north London creator Sam Tsang, better known as Congee immediately establishes himself as a vibrant and exciting new name in the UK alt-pop scene.
The track is brimming with appeal, melding a catchy, melodic chorus with laid-back Easy Life-esque verses. The track, along with its self-directed video, feels spacious and packed full of fresh ideas, swarming with layers and layers of off-kilter sonic ideas and warm, modernist production. Congee says, “This song touches on the relationship between me and mum. She was born in China and moved here when she was a teenager not knowing a word of English. I was born in the UK and my Chinese is pretty much non-existent. Even though there is a language barrier between me and my mum, sometimes all I need is for her to tell me that everything is going to be okay.”
